Why have a stockpile?

Stockpiling is a wonderful ideas for individuals everywhere. No one knows what will happen today or tomorrow to impact our lives. But one thing is certain, you need things like food and water to survive. If you create a stockpile, then you are making a wise investment for your future as well as your family’s future. You can have things that you will need in times of crisis. Or you will just have extra things in your home for a while, so that you don’t have to make so many trips to the store or spend quite as much money when you go. Once you get your stockpile up, then you only have to fork out your hard-earned cash for those things that are absolutely necessary. This is also a great way to help you start on a budget and to have the extra cash to put back into an account for rough times.

What should I stockpile?

Okay, so those health nuts out there are going to faint and rant and rave when they read my list and yes I do feed my kids whatever they will eat, but that is their opinion and everyone eats differently. So to start off with, you should get a stock on things that usually add up and you only purchase one or twice a year. Next work from there and get more stocked up according to how often you buy it. If you calculate the amount of items you buy in a year, then you can estimate the amount of things you will need in your stockpile to cut down on your grocery/household bill.

Below is a list of things that I plan to stockpile for my home over the year:

  • Household –     laundry detergent, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, bar soap, degreaser, cleaners, bleach, dishwashing liquid, light bulbs, garbage bags, air fresheners.
  • Grocery-   boxed goods, canned goods, sauces, chips, cookies, dips, snacks (both healthy and non lol!), Drinks and drink mixes, meats and frozen goodies, cereals, seasonings, and other goods. **I made this list as I was typing and haven’t really exacted the final draft of my list I am making on paper, but you get the idea**
